Horror from Poe to Post-modernism

This page is meant as a portal to our horror theme. Looking at the horror genre through the ages allows us to see what characterises the genre - but also how the genre has developed.

We will discuss the development of the monster from Poe to Post-modernism. We will look at settings and discuss what is gothic. And we will discuss the paradox that the horror genre has been written off as "B" culture while it is actually a highly moralising genre.

What is horror fiction? Read the Horror Writers Association's attempt to answer the question here. You may find various articles about horror writing here.
